Decision Making
Good Evening My Dear Readers!
It's Thursday and many of us are already in the weekend mode, Sunday comes a step nearer.
So yesterday having a preachy post on Communication and etiquette, i hope i did not offend you all, at least few readers opted to comment to maintain the good communication stature...ha ha ha, and i am glad to receive those motivating comments. Thank You guys.
So today lets talk about equally important subject of decision making, yes the very own dilemma of ours....."To be or not to be"...lets decode it.
This is most of us when we make a decision
When we are stuck between situations and opportunities, we experience a mental block and become stupid enough to make a decision. We all often go dumbstruck when it comes to us, who otherwise are quite intelligent to give free advise, We all become self-adopted godfathers for others...ha ha ha...
But now no more of asking others, having polls and be landed in "to be or not to be' situations. I promise to make today's post a value giver and mind clearing one.
When we're stuck in a situation, we usually have a few options for how to proceed or what decision to make. We sometimes choose the adventurous path, but our subconscious always wants to take the safe route.
My funda is very simple in the dilemma. I grab a notepad and draw a line in the center of the page. Divide it in two halves and start listing the pros and cons. This is a very vague method but it has been helpful to me in every circumstances. The nerdy method makes the scenario crystal clear to decide, so i mostly win it.
The common notion attached to a decision making process is fear of going wrong. But i would ask "Why fear when its humane to err?". I mean, its ok if we make mistakes, we all can always adjust or correct it, nothing or anything is ever too damaging. But of course in life threatening situations its always to be safe. So to decide right one should always be fearless.
And of course, how can the most debated situation of "Dil aur Dimag ka yuddh" be missed in the discussion. This is the toughest dilemma, where one would say listen to heart and other would say be selfish and listen to mind. Here if i were in your place,i would try to make a mid way diplomatic decision, which would suffice at least some basic conditions of both the sides. But if this way is also not possible than meditate, clear your mind and decide the path which will best benefit you and all related.
Some of my readers might be beautiful magicians in decision making and i would invite them to comment below to add and improve the topic to benefit all. lets not make the blog preachy and one side, comment and express your opinions, i would love know your views.
Now coming to the core, before deciding anything, we need to follow a process . To be precise and make things clear, I will list down points for better understanding of all.
(Please Note: These are my learning and view points, which i wish to share. I encourage your opinions and point of views as well. Comment below).
So the flow goes in like this. Use pen and paper to aid you with clarity while using this steps.
Step 1. Designate or assure the path to the end result of whatever you want to decide.
Step 2. Establish or explore the resources that you will require in the decision or after the decision.
Step 3. Investigate all possible alternatives for the option.
Step 4. List out the positives and negatives.
Step 5. Work out the consequences. The end result plays an important role.
Step 6. Sum up all above points to calculate the score and you are ready to finally choose.
This in other words is also called calculated approach. I believe this tool will help you decide better. You can design yours using available resources. Also, you all can practice some brain games to improve decision making power like Sudoku, chess, luminosity, and crossword puzzles. They are stress busters as well.
Also this is us, while deciding,
Even if the decision turns out to be wrong you can always correct it, well, marriages are an exception to this discussion. Ha ha ha...just teasing you all!!
So i now decide to leave. Good night, take care and keep commenting!!
