Sustainability & Me: My Sustainability Heroes!
Hello Everyone!!
A Green welcome to all enthusiastic, energetic, Warriors of Nature. We are here together because we believe in the change we want for our climate!
I'm back with some more interesting details on Sustainability, but this time instead of a to do list, I will share about the people who have actually aced at environment protection and are the role models of Sustainability.
The Individual Goals as listed in the previous post have achieved a lot of support and appreciation, I thanks all the readers! And as I said, One goal at a time, these Sustainability Champions have taken the first step as pro already.
Now keeping short, I will now bring the spotlight on the Featuring Stars of today!
1. Shankar Subramaniam, a Grade XI student, Bangalore, developed an android application for collecting unused medicines and segregating, donating these unused medicines to the needy.
2. Sheila Surendran ,Chennai, Tamil Nadu utilizes leftover fabrics to upcycle into new products like phone covers, cable tags, jackets, laptop sleeves etc, thus giving new avatar and justice to materials by reusing them.
3. Arpit Dhupar New Delhi, designed a filter that absorbs soot out of diesel generator exhausts and turns it into ink. This ink is developed to be harmless and safe for human use.
4. Vidyut Mohan - Developed a machine which burns crop residues in controlled manner that produces bio-products like bio fuels, activated carbon and fertilizer, thus also eliminating environment pollution which would otherwise be caused due to open burning.
5. Jayesh Mevada - Created a method to clean the river water with the help of enzymes, instead of chemical cleaners. These enzymes naturally clean the water, thus reducing pollution and harmful chemical usage.
6. Ashwath Hegde - Designed an edible plastic bag from potato and tapioca starch, with vegetable oils, which degrade naturally in soil and water, and also pose no threat to animal health by being edible.
7. Narayana Peesapaty - Developed baked cutlery which is edible thus reducing plastic and foam waste and also satiating hunger altogether.
8. Haaziq Kaazi - Developed an Ocean Cleaning Ship named 'ERVIS' which would suck the plastic from the oceans.
The list goes on....These are My Sustainability Heroes!!
Before even UN mandated on the sustainability goals or The Governments committed to the goals, these were the thinkers who were already embarked on the journey to make a difference to Climate at large. Lets join their side.
We do not have shortage of talent or commitment towards sustainability, but we lack acknowledgement, support and gratitude to such scholars who actually are turning the tide on pollution. I wish many more heroes like them rise from the soil.
